  • How long is the Aircraft Mechanic Training program?
The program is roughly 30 months. The first 12-18 months are all based at Rand Airport and comprise of 19 Aviation modules. 15 of these modules have theoretical and practical assessments to ensure you don't only gain book-smarts but also be able to practically apply that knowledge. After you have completed and passed all of your modules, you will write your phase test which is essentially your final exam that covers 18 of the modules (Welcome and induction is not part of this exam). Now you are ready to start working on your hours. You need to have a total of 2800 logged practical hours that were completed at a Civil Aviation Authority Approved Maintenance Organization (Part 145-AMO). We place you at one of these AMO's so that you do not have to send out CV's and hope for a placement. Depending on your drive and commitment, you can obtain these hours in 12-18 months. Once this is completed, you come back to ITC in preparation of your trade test. Trade Test Preparation takes 2 weeks and the Trade Test is conducted over 2 days.
  • Does the price include my Trade Test and Trade revision?
Yes, the price includes your trade test preparation/revision and trade test.
  • Do you place me at an Aircraft Maintenance Training organisation for my On-the-Job training hours and do I get paid during this period?
Yes, we do place you at an AMO for this period. It is the discretion of the AMO if they want to pay you and also how much they want to pay you. This is between you and the AMO and we do not get involved, nor do we get paid for this placement.
  • Do you offer scholarships or bursaries?
Unfortunately, we are a privately owned company and we do not receive Government Grants, therefor we cannot offer any bursaries or scholarships. We do have an arrangement with Student Hero and the assist you in applying for a loan. • Where and when does training take place?
Training takes place at Building 5, Rand Airport, Germiston. Training hours are Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00. No training on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
  • Can I study part time or full time?
This is strictly full-time. Considering there are practical assessments, it cannot be done part-time. Civil Aviation Regulation also prohibits us from offering basic training part time.
  • Do I get a Diploma or Degree after I have completed my course?
Aviation is a completely different industry. You cannot work on an Aircraft with a Degree or Diploma. You would still need to apply for recognition of prior learning and complete your On The Job training 2800 hours AND complete your trade test in order to work on an aircraft. This is one industry where a Degree or Diploma does not mean much.
  • Do you guarantee me a job after completion?
Unfortunately, no one guarantee someone a job after completing a qualification. We do however place you at an Aircraft Maintenance Training Organization (AMO) for your On The Job training. Here you have the opportunity to make a good impression and enable the AMO to offer you a job.
